Trailside Zoo houses animals that are native to New York State such as the Eastern Coyote (Canis latrans), Beaver (Castor canadensis), River Otter (Lontra canadensis) , Porcupine (Erethizon dorsatum), Opossum (Didelphis virginiana), and of course Black Bears (Ursus americanus). Our animals arrived here because they were either permanently injured or orphaned, and would not be able to survive in the wild. Their presence here offers visitors the opportunity to see them up close and learn about the importance of conserving their natural habitat.
