Alert: Trailside Closing
Trailside will be CLOSED Monday through Friday through December 19th.
Trailside will be OPEN Saturdays and Sundays during this time period.
During the Winter Holidays, Trailside will be OPEN daily from Saturday, December 20th through Sunday, January 4th. HOWEVER, Trailside will be closed Thursday, December 25th (Christmas Day). After the holidays, Trailside will be closed weekdays due to the ongoing construction.
During the closing, there will be NO access to Trailside from any point of entry. The closing of Trailside is due to a major construction project at the Pool Bathhouse.
Hikers, please use the blue-blazed bypass trail to stay on the Appalachian Trail. Follow the blue blazes around the outside perimeter of Trailside to reconnect with the white blazed AT.

Trailside Museums & Zoo is located at Bear Mountain State Park, on the western bank of the Hudson River.

Main Entrance to Bear Mountain State Park is on Seven Lakes Drive, off of Route 9W and a short distance south of the Bear Mountain Bridge Circle. The entrance is next to Bear Mountain Inn, 98 Hessian Lake Drive, Bear Mountain, NY 10911. Parking for Trailside is available at the parking lots of Bear Mountain State Park.
From NYC and New Jersey: Take the Palisades Interstate Parkway North (about 41 miles) to the end at the Bear Mountain Bridge Circle. Follow signs to Bear Mountain State Park.
From Westchester: Take the Taconic, Bear Mountain Parkway or Route 6 North to the Bear Mountain Bridge. After crossing the bridge, follow signs for Route 9W South and Bear Mountain State Park.
From Newburgh and points North: Take Route 9W South to Bear Mountain Bridge Circle. Follow signs for Bear Mountain State Park.
