Loki is the winning name for the Coyote Pup
Hundreds upon hundreds of names were submitted for the coyote pup. Thanks to everyone who contributed! The winners are Douglas and Andrew Indzonka who live in New Windsor, a community in Orange County, New York. Douglas and Andrew chose the name Loki. Loki is the name of the Norse God known as a trickster and associated with pranks, jokes and comical situation. This name is fitting as in many Native American cultures coyotes are known as tricksters.
Douglas is 15 and an Eagle Scout. For his Eagle Scout project, Douglas partnered with the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation and the Beacon Sloop Club to clean up water chestnut, an invasive aquatic plant species, in the Hudson River. Andrew is 13 and also a Scout. Andrew is proposing an Eagle Scout project to restore a lean-to in Harriman State Park.
